Participant Privacy Notice

Welcome to the SEACURE project website and thank you for your interest in taking part in our activities. This Participant Privacy Notice explains how personal data are collected, used and managed in connection with SEACURE engagement activities and other project-related events and initiatives.

The project follows a participatory and multi-actor approach, engaging relevant stakeholders through SEACURE activities such as workshops, training sessions, masterclasses, webinars and other project-related events and initiatives. In this context, participation in SEACURE activities may involve the collection and processing of participants’ data during registration and participation in these activities.

What personal data do we collect and how do we use it?

To support the upscaling objectives of the SEACURE project, external participants will be involved throughout the project in capacity-building activities, workshops and other project-related events. Personal data may be collected directly from participants through registration forms and through their contributions during these activities.

The information collected may include your name, email address, organisation or affiliation and, where relevant, information about your professional or educational background, dietary restrictions, and comments or contributions provided during the activity. We use this information to manage your registration and participation, provide practical information and activity-related materials, support the design, monitoring and evaluation of project activities, keep you informed about project outcomes and opportunities, and analyse relevant data for scientific and research purposes.

Any findings included in project reports, scientific publications, conference presentations or other project outputs will be presented in aggregated or anonymised form. Where you have provided your consent, we may also use your contact details to send you the SEACURE newsletter.

Where applicable, SEACURE activities may be photographed, audio-recorded or video-recorded. Identifiable photographs and audiovisual recordings will only be collected and used where participants have provided their explicit consent. Such materials may be used for project communication and dissemination purposes.

We only collect personal data that are relevant and necessary for these purposes and do not disclose them to unauthorised third parties, except where required by law or necessary to meet applicable contractual and audit obligations.

How do we store your data?

The data collected will be stored securely and retained only for as long as necessary for the purposes for which they were collected. In any case, personal data will not be kept for more than 5 years after the end of the project, unless a longer retention period is required by applicable contractual or audit obligations.

Your rights

You have the right to access the personal data we process about you and to request the correction of inaccurate or incomplete data. Where applicable, you may also request the deletion of your personal data, restrict or object to its processing, and exercise your right to data portability.

Where the processing of your personal data is based on your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time, without having to provide any justification. Withdrawal of consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before its withdrawal. To exercise any of these rights, please send a written request to seacureproject@gmail.com. Your request will be forwarded to the relevant data controller.

All data collected and managed under the project activities is carried out in accordance with Regulation (EU) 2016/679, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), concerning the protection of natural persons with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data, as well as with any applicable national data protection legislation. We reserve the right to update our data protection declaration if necessary.
